May I suggest new game options added before 1/12/2012 (merger)
This isn't specifically custom maps but rather the alpha

1) Assassinations-
a) Allow stealth commanders for each player in the starting country they pick.
b) No alliances will be allowed (since stealth units would then be exposed)
c) The objective is to kill the commander or capture their home country for any turn(s).

Encourages :
1) The use of stealth units and since they are expensive, team games based on this require more teamwork.
2) Better protection of whole country and defence.

2) King of the Hill-
a) Let the computer randomize a point within enabled country borders
b) Then disable the selection of the country (keeping cities intact) it is in and all other countries bordering it (if not an island)
c) The objective is to take control of cap/that country for X turns

Encourages:
1) Rushing and less low rank-killing by high ranks (since it is a race)
2) Fun for large maps and team games if 2/3 points are selected.

3) Tribal system-
a) Let first turn start as normal with all peace
b) Then force first place in sp to ally with last place in sp and so on (a lone player if odd numbers of players)
c) Then count the total sp between the pairs.
d) Pairs can be placed in diplomacy screen, with no other alliances or peace allowed
e) The pairs can then be alternated in the following turns depending on sp changes for individuals.
f) If someone loses/ leaves then the pairs will automatically have to change, unless they are the middle 1 or 2.

Encourages:
1) The high ranks to protect the low ranks and for low ranks to gain valuable sp.
2) This also adds balance and discourages stealth units to be made (transparency) so that the actual strengths of each person can be known.

1) We thought about it, but it would be like looking for a needle in a haystack - hardly very exciting. We will probably add some General-related victory objective though.

2) We already have a similar victory objective - "capture country X and hold it for Y turns". We just need to tweak it to accommodate custom maps now.

3) Sorry, I don't find this system particularly interesting, and I don't think a lot of players would be up for it.

All in all, working on new victory objectives is rather disappointing, since people only use the default one anyway. That's why adding more different objectives is not a priority for us.

Killing the general as the objective would make the game feel like Empire Earth and Risk. :l
