This is about getting more people staying in the game.
There has to be a way to make the beginners room {noob room } better or more hospitable for new players, if you look at the shear number of players who stop playing this game before they even really start, its impressive. If we can get some good ideas to make the game more user inclusive in the beginners room or have some kind of coalitions that automatically invite them into it, maybe give some players a special clearance to make separate coalitions specifically for new players without having to lose there place in there other coalitions. it might make newbies more interested in the game. (ideally players who have expressed a specific desire to train and help other players like )

-I was thinking that this along with someone elses idea to make more positions in the coalition might make new players become a little more interested in the game community from the day they join.
-Getting in contact with high ranked players and becoming involved in the community cant hurt at all.
-More potential players means more potential premiums and instead of having someone say " i tried it and its sh-t" they might say "check this out" and send a link too a friend.

1 There are a few issues i know with this. some coalitions will end up having two or three coalitions set up solely to grab as many new players as possible, so i was thinking that each coalition gets another position called "recruitment guy" who is in charge of the coalitions recruitment coalition in the beginners lobby. This guy would be able to view beginners games ,another former idea, and he would have other small abilities to help him do stuff that i haven't thought of.

2 Could have 5 to 10 new mod run coalitions where mods pick a guy( as stated above wants to train new players) to run the coalition and train the new players. but this could allow some mods in the bigger coalitions to pick players from there own groups and then the new coalitions would turn into propaganda horses for the bigger coalitions. so maybe some way for all the mods to regulate what players are in this position. and not to allow the mods themselves to run the coalitions not being anti mod but they should chose a person that is agreed upon unanimously.

personally i prefer the first option its fairer and the coalitions that want to succeed will use the new recruitment coalition and the ones that don't want one just don't appoint a recruitment officer. its also less work for the mods to pick out the perfect ten players who wont be bias towards coalitions while they train the new players.

Its not just new coalitions that can make the beginners room more user friendly , if anyone has any ideas to do anything here is where you can put them down and see what people think.

I agree with what your saying - in talking to a few players who came and left, there is something 'unfriendly' about the beginners room.

The only one who went into any detail said he basically didn't understand how other 'beginners' were so much better than him (walling etc.) i told him he probably was playing an experienced player who was creating a new account.

I'm not sure if this is still a problem, but i do agree that there are problems that turn people off AW in the beginner's room before they get a chance to appreciate the game.

This just in.. an actual live beginner has made this suggestion:

' I mean if there is anyway for New players to join a sort of group where friendly vets can help them get incorporated into the game that'd help somewhat.'

Support it might also solve the problem of the player that stop playing once they are rank 5 and have to join the main room.As the level in the begginer room will get higher

Agree there is an ENOURMOUS skill difference you notice when you hit r5 an are in main room, I know when I became r5 I was actually scared of main room lol, a lotta r5 who just came outa beginner don't even know how to wall (sad part is I was one of them) stuff like this I believe needs to change otherwise there is no point having main room as r5+ as a lotta new r5 don't know anymore than most r4 and even some r3

heightening the rank for beginner wouldn't fix the issue as it would just make it so that the same issue happens when the player is higher rank and making a 3rd room r4-6 or so wouldn't work either imo as it would take players outa both beginners and main room making it harder to fill some the larger games that are already a pain to fill

anything to keep more players with the game helps, it means more potential prems and more prudential competitive players and more potential players to fill those larger games that never fill in the dead times

Making a rank 4-6 room won't solve anything as they will keep learning nothing. The sooner they get in contact with more skilled players, the better. So the best would be to make the beginner room just for 1-3 and then to main room

Maybe a group of mod approved and willing players could form a group who would have an automated message being sent out on there behalf about small beginner room tournaments. i know no-one really wants to invest time or prizes into beginners room but maybe if the admins give a couple proto-coins to that free premium group of players or other players who have expresses willingness to give proto-coins ( full respect to them) as prizes and finding the right players who are willing to set up small competitions that might make the difference in a player staying or leaving. proto-coins would mean nothing to a new player but sure everyone likes to win stuff.

An increase in the competitions for the new players would give them a better chance of not leaving forever once they hit r5

^^^
Maybe some kind of early competition to be set up for beginners might make them more interested and the interaction with the "vet players" might help them discover some of the tricks of the game make them fit into the main room easier.

I agree with raul here about the ranks at which people advance to main lobby, they dont matter. People wont be deciding to stay or leave by the time they get to rank 4 or 5 anyway. That decision is made after rank 1 or 2.
i went and lost almost 30 games in a row when i joined main lobby so really i was already here and gonna stay and try win regardless of the losses.
I learned through persistence.

I was also thinking that making it easier for players to get into contact with new players from there own Time zones, Countries or general areas in the beginners room would allow them to get talking too each other and making friends early in the game players that are talking too each other will share what they know like walling and turn-blocking this makes them a little better at the game hopefully get them a little more used to the game. might also make them pop back unto the game because they know someone in it.

When I was rank 5, I probably just got in the habit of walling from rank 3/4 and was learning to probably expand more. However, it wasn't until I challenged myself with roles in scenarios and other games of learning what higher players did, then what I really knew what I was doing. I also think there should be a more thorough tutorial. More than just how to move and how to attack, move etc... More like tactics in making multiple moves, walls, what certain strategies do and how they work, how income and attacking live players works as that is more helpful than how to expand and attack neutrals.

It would also help if there was a better transition from rank 4 to rank 5 that shows that the game isn't all about attacking neutrals and getting allies as most rps I think are starting to influence that to lower ranks. When I intoduced atwar to some of my friends, one thing that scared some of them or most of them away was when they got dominated by someone with more experience. i.e Someone who knew the game a bit more than they did.

I agree with the ideas in which newer players interact with older players early from the start because a new player can join main room, which is logical, but the main room players can't even spectate beginner lobbies without some extra program or glitch. One of the reasons I almost quit atwar as rank 5 was because my rank 3 friend was still 2 ranks away from being able to truly play with me and us not get dominated.

You're idea is great, but it expects the community to be better than it is.
Not many people have the patience and willingness to train new players, and in general attempts to train new players tend to fail in most cases because of this.

The biggest problem for me was the culture shock - people using tactics not seen in the beginners room (not many people wall down there), and the fact that the level of skill increaces so rapidly puts many people off. My preferred solution would be sp incentives for rank 4s and under to play in the main room, increacing the crossover of tactics (the will still loose most games in the main lobby), but they will have had a previous taste of it, and when they go back will bring the advanced tactics with them.

However not many people in the main lobbby like low ranks, and in general I think the worst thing is that we are horrible people who are inhospitable to developing players because they can.

We only dislike cocky low ranks who join with arrogance and demand that they are entitled to the biggest factions, this is where the hate develops, they have the illusion that they are good because they dominate beginners room and their arrogance is disgusting when they join a scenario with all 8+ then demand to play the biggest faction.
