On the new ToS.

I haven't posted here in ages, so I have no fucking clue why the ToS was updated to its current form. Furthermore, I was only given information to the change by a friend of mine- no email was sent out, neither was any alert presented upon logging in. In my book, this is quite deceptive and shifty, considering Amok & Ivan have also chosen to use vague legal jargon-phrases, as well as demand you rend all of your rights within your works their's by default. I know many users create works of art with their maps, and would never share their content knowing it wouldn't be their's ever again.

As a three-year semi-professional graphic designer and two-year creative director, I recognize that they probably do not give a shit about what I've made, how much time I've put into it, or what the content entails, but rather that popularity is kept within certain maps, communal quivering and dev-owned capital is low, and profit continues to flow inward. Moreover, I doubt they wish, or would utilize my works for any sort of benefit beyond this. But even then, under that assumption, I must protest to the fact that I do not wish for anyone but myself to gain royalties off of my own work. I'm already bound by the facets of the new ToS simply by logging in and not being given an option to accept or reject said facets, but by what accord? Which system of law shall enforce these rules? How can I, or anyone be sure of there legality and transparency? What gives you the legitimate authority to keep my work as your own if I ever decide to delete and wipe my account of all assets and creations?

You have no right to do this, by any means. If you've felt pressured or angered by anything the community has done to create this dilemma, deal with it and enforce a non-binding policy regarding issues, or simply tell whiny assholes to deal with it. These ToS will not work by any means, and you will (if you haven't already) see more and more of the same, shitty content that comes from the platitudes of creative minds in this community that has stagnated most opinions and growth for much time now. This could very well be your nail in the coffin, mind you: The one thing that many people I know have come here to play, has been custom maps. Without any sort of quality anymore, your game will die entirely, beyond players eternally addicted, or those stricken with poverty and living in the slums of Whogivesafuckistan.

The final line: I have content present on this website under the guise of my old account which I can no longer access. If I am not able to decline these new ToS with each and every account at the earliest convenience, I implore that you, the staff of AtWar / Protobytes, delete said content and solidify my personal opinion in regards to matters dealing with the ToS and myself.

Thank you for your time, generosity, and haste in regards to your fanbase.

I've been supressing map quality for some time now on purpose as we do not get control of banlists. I say, blame the moderators. And maybe the admins.

Finally someone says something, I was wondering who would say it first. Having been contacted by a similar individual I have reappeared to also give my own opinion on the matter.

While I have stated before that I do not support the moderators' or admins' claims that my maps are their property, I find that certain aspects of the updated ToS are completely out of line, in particular the part about how maps that are deleted by a map maker may be brought back at any time without reason. This is quiet a serious issue. I feel that maps are an important part of this game and that the connection that a map maker has with his maps is what made this game so enticing in times past.

I have spent countless hours on this game and I find it all a waste, I have been unofficially retired from AtWar but I feel that this should be my final statement on the matter. I will not continue to be apart of a game where the administrators make random changes with the guidance of the clearly corrupt moderation staff. This game has turned into a nest of hungry fools who seek only attention and money, and the administration is nothing less of this. I have no reason to continue this game especially now that these pathetic rules have been implemented. And I will further suggest to anyone I know considering joining this game not to, it is only a waste of time and if possible I would take back the money I wasted on premium in an instance.

This game was fun but slowly it has been losing its fun and I feel that now it has peeked at its most horrific and I do not see a reason to continue here when there are many games similar to this that actually have administrators and developers who get on more than once a week and take weeks to respond or act on anything, and when they do they always seem to fuck it up and ignore what people are asking for.

Good luck those who choose to stay and fix this broken and useless game.

Looking at the good side, if you accidentally delete your map or you fight up with a collaborator and he deletes / edits it... You can change it back!

if it wasnt legal would it matter? then again i am an advocated for the internet to not be defined the rules of a specific nation if its an international website which this is. besides its not legality that matters its just plain retarded and stupid, this should not be how the admins communicate with its people

This is a dick move with no real meaning or power, but what is shocking is admins "fighting" players who make their game better, the plain fact they can change ToS any way they like (think about this for a while people) by power given to them by themselfs and other players who support this kind of management.

Seriously its a game, get over yourself? ...what is it really you map makers do? ...nobody cares? ...not important?

When something of yours is taken, then you will care ...if your work was taken from you with no compensation, beside a slap in your face, then you would care.

Map makers agreed to admins rules, that they would not have absolute control over bans ...and hey i wanna publish some maps when i finish them and i am making them for my own pleasure and for the community to enjoy ...

...but what i don't want is a "fuck you" worded in some of the most ridiculous sentences i have ever seen like this one ...

I know damn well that many cartographers spend days, weeks, perhaps even months working on their creations, never to see them have any limelight whatsoever do to low-quality RP and 13 year-old wet dream maps that inhabit the bulk of your average AtWar social-outcast's day. Saying this is imply "just a game" when so much effort goes into creating such things is an asinine statement, to say the very least. Perhaps you should get over yourself.

As another, unrelated statement: It appears to me that the general consensus on whether this ToS works, holds legality, and isn't a retaliation by the staff, also happens to correspond to those whom I've noticed in my findings over the past year or so that are quite comfy with their positions as forum-whores and popular keyboard-warriors. Let me make it blatantly clear, fellas: I was the original admin dick-sucker, and it never benefited me fucking once: You'll find nothing but penance for yourself if you blindly agree with everything authority tells you because they did one nice thing for you. No one is ever always right, but people need to try new things. Now is the time to stand against this injustice and voice an opinion contrary to the matter that will (hopefully) have this repealed. There is know way on God's green Earth that anyone can ever believe that forfeiting all possessions to Amok & Ivan just to play a slow-updated, boring browser RTS..

what accusation? that the admins are power-hungry, greedy jerks? this is nothing new everyone knows that, when was the last time we got an actual beneficial update that didnt turn out broken and cause more issues? I havent seen one in ages, we are still waiting on html5, if they ever get around to working on it and I see no effort to actually use the money we put into this game other than for their own personal use. The proof is in the lack of improvement in the game and the fact that we still have the worst servers ever, there is a reason why everyone jokes about atwar servers, cause they are probably from the 1980s and meant to add numbers not run a major game. This game is broken and the proof is there whether you choose to acknowledge its existence or not.

There are two players.

One of then spend entire day making a map of his own sake.

The other research what does the community likes and made a map related (RP)

How do you ever find it logical that first player complains about second player's map being popular?

If you want to make a popular map, you should research first what does the community wants. Or create by youself a brand New style, which doesn't always work.
