Wow, a shit episode that literally made no sense at all and kept stabbing main characters I guess Arya was right, "What do we do in front of death...Just jog away"

I was like, thank fuck, the Night king is gonna beat everyo- Oh, well that was shit. Since S7 this show has failed at perfect writing and strategic characters and plots.

Also, one drop of blood and everyone knows where Arya is, but when she runs all across Winterfell and jumps at the night King. No one bats an eye. Muh dude.

Dothraki hord : fag rushers sending two hundreds PD tanks vs a 1000 pd inf. GG.

The reason they all died according to the producers was to just create a cool scene to show the dead are evil.
Its clear by the season the plot has disappeared and the writers just regurgitate content from earlier seasons in the dialogue giving past fan favourites like tyrion and varys nothing to say.

Just seems like so much didnt make sense at all....

Imagine Rohan cavalry charging Orc formations and suddenly dissapears. Because that's what happened in GoT. Here's what i hate the most:

1. Using dragon as Bell UH-1 to extract soldiers surrounded by enemies (killed by 1 ice spear...seiously...)

2. Dragon revived as ice soldier, yet it breathes fire (blue...again seriously...)

3. 200 meters tall wall, with castles, patrols, unique lifestyle and interesting characters > gets destroyed in just one episode

4. 100,000 Dothraki land with Daenerys, only 10,000 remain with her at the Battle of Ice and Fire, despite no battles between Battle of the Goldroad and Battle of Ice and Fire (almost no dothraki casualties in goldroad)

5. All dothraki ded for no reason before clashing with the enemy

6. Gay flaming swords repeatedly portraited, copying LOTR

7. Main antagonist killed without explaining his backstory and reasons

I could rate the show high, despite porn scenes which make the show non-family, the plot, acting and camera were pretty good, but this season is just crap for now, 1/5 from me

I can't disagree that the dialogue has declined gradually, but noticeably. I had to re-watch first few seasons just to remove 'novelty' bias, and it's clear the earlier scripts were more interesting.

Also, this 'war' was not the best in my view. The first battle between Jamie and Daenerys still outdoes this one... not sure if they were just trying too hard on this one, but it was just too much effort for a rather abrupt and anti-climatic ending.

Some short scenes with the dragons were amazing, but they seemed disconnected somehow.. like there were two separate budgets, and they ran out of money part way through production.

Still, even with the decline, it's better than most shows i know. ♥

I think there is a big difference between LOTR and this show. While LOTR portrays a classic good-bad fight, in this show we have endless shades of good and bad, with emphasis on the shades of bad or on the shades of power desiring.

The Fields of Pellennor boasts the classic final confrontation, the evil is there and the good is over here and they make BOOM. Here in GOT, the ultimate evil is covered not only with darkness, but is also helped by a snowstorm. Man, you can tell from the beginning that humans have no chance. I think this show may be the LOTR of our time. The classic fairytale is no more, but a dark remix.

And for all complaining about the ending, the tide of history was changed many times by more pettier events than the most agile warrior of Westeros charging into you. You can see the Night King reaching almost the climax of his victory, enjoying it to the fullest and still sensing Arya and seizing here, isn't that the gesture of a great warrior? But Arya does that crazy trick...a trick similar to the one made by the great warrior Wolodyjowski in his showdown with Bohun (novel Through Fire and Sword) and achieves the unthinkable. Only a warrior like a shadow could do that in our case. Did you see Jon Snow's heroic charge or Daenerys 'Drakaris'? No, that was the only way. And when I watched for the first time the movie sequences I didn't grasp the meaning behind the dialogue of the Red Priestess and Arya: 'Brown, Green and BLUE EYES' and also, what do we say to the God of Death (in our case the Night King)? Not Today!

And still, LOTR anticipated GOT. The humans barely won at the Pellennor Fields and at the Black Gate they were vastly outnumbered. But from the beginning we know that that is a diversion. While here in GOT, we have no hope, everything and everywhere is darkness and death so the victory comes only from the encouragement (at the time when all the plans of the generals crumbled) of the Red Woman and Arya's focus and planning. You see at the beginning, Arya is scared and then she struggles for her life, only the Red Woman shows her the way she must take. And she takes it, from the scared girl hiding from a bunch of zombies in the library to the incredible and focused warrior (remembering who she truly is) who leaps boldly to cut the Hydra's head. Simply beautiful.

p.s. flaming swords taken from LOTR? I can remember only of the Witch-King having a flaming sword and only when meeting his great rival, Gandalf. And don't forget, G.R.R. Martin admits Tolkien as a great inspiration

I still think that winning by tactic and not sudden assassination is better way to end the war (no i don't agree with undead and eagles in LOTR)

If you think GoT is dark remix of good/evil shades, then you'll enjoy a story i'll post soon.

Ways that could have made this episode more epic:

1. Use common sense with their battle strategy. You want to send Dothraki out? Have excuse like they're goignto slow down the horde while the civilians are evacuated. Then perhaps have them killed off to show that the dead have arrived earlier than expected (and then you could have excuse for having troops outside the barricades)
2. Have more main characters die- even if its just one, more important people should have been killed off. I was expecting Jamie or Briene. Hell, have Jamie die PROTECTING Bran, talk about full circle.
3. Utilize night king Lieutenants- all those creepy knight walkers that weren't turned but seem to be the same species of the night king, have them lead separate armies. If they die, their army dies. Then when Arya dramatically kills the LT (instead of the night king), the battle is won but it makes it much more epic. "If this was what one of his LT's could do, imagine what facing the night king will be!"

4. OR have the night king die, sure. But he should have turned Danerys into a night queen and she could continue leading the undead.

Seriously, this show has been building up for 7 seasons that the true enemy is the night king and it is the division of man over who sits on a throne that threatens their ability to cooperate and defeat the night king. A bit cliche but I think that's what they should have pursued. We'll see where these final 3 episodes though. I am optimistic they will be good.

Overall, I enjoyed this episode, it was fun to watch. But it ended a little lackluster due to the seriousness of the threat just not being as bad as was expected. This is an apocalyptic force defeated in one battle. Lots of people died, sure, but none of the major characters. GOT is known for killing off its main cast more so than other shows. It should have done so on this episode of all episodes.

Got took a nosedive in quality ever since the creators ran out of source material from the author. It really does feel like fanfiction now. That being said it's still enjoyable. Hopefully the last few episodes are a bit more exciting though.
